The Legacy 2M Chipmunk is a large, 80-inch wingspan remote-controlled model aircraft based on the Super Chipmunk, a real-life aerobatic plane modified from the original 1946 Chipmunk trainer. This model is a highly pre-fabricated kit, designed for easy assembly with features like pre-hinged surfaces, a quick-build tail, and a pre-vented cowl.
Built from a mix of balsa, ply, and carbon-fiber, the Chipmunk is very light for its size, weighing about 9.5 pounds without the battery. It is designed for 3D aerobatic flight but is also gentle and can fly very slowly thanks to its large flaps.
For power, it uses a T-Hobby AM670 motor and AM116 ESC with an 18x8 prop, which provides unlimited vertical performance and long flight times. The model requires seven mini servos and a minimum 8-channel receiver. It is available in two versions: an ARF (Almost-Ready-to-Fly) kit where you add your own electronics, or an RXR (Ready-to-Fly) version that comes with the electronics already installed, allowing you to fly in about an hour.
The model comes in two color schemes, both based on real aircraft: a red, white, and blue design modeled after N540SC, and a yellow scheme with a shark's mouth inspired by a CAF trainer. The covering is genuine Ultracote. Other included accessories are a pilot figure, a decal set, transport cradle, and wing bags.
