F4U-4 Corsair 1.20 m from E-flite

Details

This updated and upgraded version of the E-flite® F4U-4 Corsair 1.2m is the Smartest, most powerful, and easiest to fly "full-house" model of the iconic warbird yet! It's better equipped for scale-like flying and sport flying, PLUS offers higher speed and aerobatic capabilities than before — and includes optional-use SAFE® Select technology that makes it easier to fly (BNF® Basic version only). The factory-installed brushless power system features a 70-amp Spektrum™ Avian™ Smart Lite ESC plus a specially-tuned motor and 4-blade prop. This combination delivers an abundance of thrust with a 3S LiPo battery, or more speed and nearly unlimited vertical performance with a 4S battery. The ESC can provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR631) and Spektrum AirWare™ equipped transmitters while you fly. Its lightweight yet durable, composite-reinforced and fully-molded EPO airframe has an abundance of scale detail including panel lines and a pilot figure. Functional scale features include factory-installed rotating retracts with strut covers plus operational flaps. Decal sheets with MARINES, NAVY and other markings are provided for customizing the factory-applied paint finish. No glue is required for final assembly — which means you can have the F4U-4 Corsair 1.2m ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery!

Due to its unique inverted gull wing design, the F4U Corsair is one of the most recognizable and iconic U.S. Navy and Marine fighter aircraft of World War II. This updated and upgraded version of the E-flite® F4U-4 Corsair 1.2m features a factory-installed 3S and 4S compatible power system with an exclusive 70A Smart Lite ESC to deliver more capabilities and performance. The BNF® Basic version also includes a telemetry-capable AR631 receiver with both AS3X® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies that make it easier to fly than ever before. The airframe is now finished in the iconic "all blue" trim scheme and includes separate decal sheets to customize it with MARINES, NAVY, and other markings. Factory-installed rotating retracts with strut covers, plus operational flaps, take your scale warbird experience to another level!

Vought F4U Corsair

Vought F4U Corsair

The Vought F4U Corsair is an American fighter aircraft that saw service primarily in World War II and the Korean War. Designed and initially manufactured by Chance Vought, the Corsair was soon in great demand; additional production contracts were given to Goodyear, whose Corsairs were designated FG, and Brewster, designated F3A.

The Corsair was designed and operated as a carrier-based aircraft, and entered service in large numbers with the U.S. Navy in late 1944 and early 1945. It quickly became one of the most capable carrier-based fighter-bombers of World War II. Some Japanese pilots regarded it as the most formidable American fighter of World War II and its naval aviators achieved an 11:1 kill ratio. Early problems with carrier landings and logistics led to it being eclipsed as the dominant carrier-based fighter by the Grumman F6F Hellcat, powered by the same Double Wasp engine first flown on the Corsair's initial prototype in 1940. Instead, the Corsair's early deployment was to land-based squadrons of the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy.

The Corsair served almost exclusively as a fighter-bomber throughout the Korean War and during the French colonial wars in Indochina and Algeria. In addition to its use by the U.S. and British, the Corsair was also used by the Royal New Zealand Air Force, French Naval Aviation, and other air forces until the 1960s.

From the first prototype delivery to the U.S. Navy in 1940, to final delivery in 1953 to the French, 12,571 F4U Corsairs were manufactured in 16 separate models. Its 1942–1953 production run was the longest of any U.S. piston-engined fighter.
