If you’re a low-time pilot looking for a “next step after a trainer” model and are interested in learning to fly warbirds, or you’re an experienced pilot looking for a no-hassles and fun-to-fly sport scale model, the E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.0m is a perfect choice. Much like the ever-popular and best-selling E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, it’s designed to be a simpler and lower-cost alternative to full-house P-51 models equipped with flaps and retractable landing gear that are typically more complex to operate and difficult to fly. The fixed landing gear with a steerable tailwheel makes it easy to taxi, take off from, and land on smooth surfaces. Or, leave the landing gear off for more speed and vertical performance with easy hand launches over and landings on grass. It’s conveniently sized to be easy to store and transport without disassembly – and so it can be flown at large parks and sports fields as well as RC flying fields. Factory-installed digital and metal-geared servos provide precise and reliable control at every speed. The power system includes a Spektrum outrunner motor and a 30-amp telemetry-capable ESC that are compatible with popular 3S and 4S 1300-2200mAh batteries. And the BNF Basic version is equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR631+ receiver featuring exclusive and enhanced AS3X+ along with optional-use SAFE Select and automatic Hand Launch Assist technologies. Plus both versions are factory-finished in the unique “Ferocious Frankie” trim scheme that was used on a Mustang flown by Major Wallace E. Hopkins – an ace credited with 8 victories during World War II.
