This OWL F-18 Super Hornet model uses a single 70mm EDF (please visit another OWL F-18 Super Hornet that uses also a single 64mm EDF). This model is a special edition where two sets of STL files and also gcode files are provided intentionally to print with LW-PLA or PLA filaments since their internals are designed differently. PLA design model needs more inner structure compared to LW-PLA design since there is no infill used to support the inner structure. This 70mm EDF version uses 4s 3300mAh or 6s LiPo 2200mAh. It is expected to have 330gr more weight if printed with PLA compared to LW-PLA.
There is no requirement to remove EDF intake lip so that you can reuse your fixed intake lip EDF such as FMS 70mm 6s inrunner motor into the model. Another 70mm EDF model EDF should fit also using the provided generic bracket. To make sure that it will fit into, you can download and print the 70mm bracket before you purchase the model and it is free to download.
We continue releasing the model with a “digital balsa and foam” approach. So far, we are very happy to get feedback from some of our customers when slicing the model designed with that approach. The printed parts are much stronger and still keep the weight about the same as the digital balsa approach. Whenever we feel the model will still fly excellent when printed with PLA, will include the PLA version and this model is one of them (more if possible in the future models). New PLA slicing profiles are introduced specifically for EDF PLA model (we continue improving our profiles). It adds bottom and top solid layers so that the model is more impact resistant during belly landing. During our test, the top and bottom solid layers support significant vertical impacts. To protect from scratches during landing, you may want to use fiber tape (you can find it in details below in this page).
If you are not familiar with hand launching an EDF jet, we would suggest you use our OWLplane Catapult Launcher (it is human free error from throwing the model). During maiden, also suggest using that launcher to get you familiar first with the model. When you have trimmed aileron and elevator control surfaces already, you will have no worry and no need anymore setting the control surfaces at the same time especially when trying to hand launch the model.

Although I do my best to complete this library, you may not find the model you are looking for.
In this case, do not hesitate to ask me to add it : You're not bothering me. Please be patient, depending on my workload, I may take a few days to work on your model and gather information.
I'm sometime asked to add a non flying model to this library but unfortunately, it's not the focus of this website
