The Staufenbiel™ Red Bull Edge 540 1300mm is a high performance replica of the unlimited-class Edge 540 aircraft flown at air shows and in international unlimited racing by pilot members of the Flying Bulls. Its construction with Z-Foam™ material means that a beautiful appearance can be executed while a light wing loading and a remarkable level of durability are maintained. The use of composite reinforcement used throughout the airframe adds a high level of rigidity so that high-speed and aggressive maneuvers can be accomplished with greater precision. Like the full-scale Edge 540, this is a lean machine with lots of muscle under the hood. The 32-size outrunner brushless motor offers the perfect balance of speed and torque so whether you’re hanging it on a wing tip through the pylons or standing it on the rudder for a torque-roll, you’ll feel as if there’s performance to spare. Every electronic component, including the power system, is factory installed. Among those components is the industry-leading Spektrum™ AR636A receiver with built-in AS3X® technology. A benefit of its installation is that you’ll find the time needed to perfectly trim-out the Edge 540 is virtually nonexistent. That’s because the complex array of sensors and exclusive software used to develop the AS3X system in this Edge 540 has been specially tuned to make it fly like its on rails, right out of the box.
Features
The Zivko Edge 540 manufactured by Zivko Aeronautics is a highly aerobatic aircraft. Capable of a 420 degree per second roll rate and a 3,700 foot per minute climb rate, it has been flown to victory on the international Unlimited aerobatics circuit several times since the mid-1990s. A tandem-seat version is sold as the Edge 540T.
The Zivko Edge 540 is the most common aircraft used in the Red Bull Air Race World Series.
