The BAC Lightning was Britain’s first—and only—indigenously developed supersonic fighter. Conceived in the late 1940s as a high-altitude bomber interceptor, it entered Royal Air Force service in 1960 and remained on the front line through the late 1980s. Derived from the experimental P.1 research aircraft, the Lightning became instantly recognizable for its stacked twin-engine design, blistering speed, and phenomenal rate of climb. No. 92 Squadron operated the Lightning in Germany, where its mission evolved from high-altitude interception to low-level air defense.
The Freewing BAC Lightning 64mm EDF Jet revives this British icon in a compact, hand-launch-ready model. Dressed in authentic No. 92 Squadron RAF colors and replicating the Lightning’s unique engine layout, this jet delivers exceptional scale realism and performance in flight.
Powered by a 4S 2840-2700KV outrunner motor and a 40A brushless ESC with thrust reversing, the 12-blade 64mm EDF system provides strong acceleration, crisp response, and a smooth turbine-like sound. The accurately contoured fuselage offers a natural hand-launch grip, while its lightweight, agile airframe enables tight turns, fast passes, and thrilling aerobatics — making every flight as exciting as the real Lightning’s legacy.
